Training Opportunities

At Compass Children’s Homes, all new staff have an extensive induction program and significant ongoing training throughout their time with us.

Our induction provides new staff with skills and knowledge in a wide range of areas. This includes our Compass specific safeguarding360 training to look at all issues around safeguarding some of the most vulnerable children in the UK. Along side, we provide BILD accredited PRICE training to all staff to help them to understand and manage the complex behaviours children may present within in our care.

We take a blended approach to learning with a mix of classroom based sessions and online courses to aid any learning preference and to ensure that up-to-date information is available when needed to aid in the staff members ability to support the children in their care. This will include information on Attachment, Safer care, Health and safety, Medication and many more.

Alongside this all new staff will work towards completing their level 3 diploma in residential childcare. This is delivered in house to best meet the needs of the children we care for, but is fully accredited by CACHE and is accepted industry wide. This is a 24 month programme which not only allows for staff to gain vital and relevant qualifications but also develop their reflective and professional skills in the field of residential childcare.

Continuous professional development is incredibly important at Compass and following induction each staff member will start to receive specialist training from our inhouse programme and community psychologists on a wide range of topics geared specially towards delivering the highest level of tailored care available. These sessions are externally validated to ensure that Compass staff continue to receive effective learning opportunities.
