Our training programmes and workplace support systems ensure that all our colleagues can not only excel but progress in their residential careers. We offer NVQ training for various programmes, including ‘Children and Young Peoples Workforce’ and ‘Leadership and Management’. At Compass, we pride ourselves on creating a community where colleagues have career mobility and flexibility.
All Compass Children’s Homes managers must be qualified with a Level 5 Diploma in leadership and management. In preparation for this we will enrol people on this qualification whilst they are a deputy home manager. In some cases where people are interested in this career path we will enrol them whilst they are working as a senior support worker. This allows for those wishing to progress to start to develop their career in this direction but also continue their learning.
Alongside the formal qualification, Compass recognises that taking that next step in a career to lead can be a difficult one. As such we will support emerging managers through this transition with a wide range of professional coaching and skill based learning experiences and training to aid develop the confidence and skills needed to manage others.
