Salary: £24,000 – £32,000

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Therapeutic Practitioner, whose professional background and training is underpinned by theories of working with trauma, attachment and loss. You will have good working knowledge in working with children and young people in the Care sector with a minimum of two years working with children in Residential Care.

Your tasks will be

As a Therapeutic Practitioner, you will be training and supervising staff cohorts as well as running Therapeutic Healing groups and modelling application of therapeutic interactions with the young people. You will be a key member of our team by enabling staff to recognise the destructive elements that trauma plays on child development, promoting a philosophy of therapeutic understanding from within our Children’s Homes. You will be involved in Child focused discussions and be skilled at writing reports.

You will be part of our holistic approach of working together, linking our Fostering, Education, Residential and Therapeutic Services together. Whilst you will be primarily working in the Residential settings, you will be a member of the Therapeutic Services AHCT (Assessing and Healing Complex Trauma) team and your line-manager will be our Therapeutic Development Manager.

The successful applicant will receive specialist training in our AHCT approach which you will then be promoting. We have a number of Residential Homes and Education settings across the country where we are seeking to develop the Assessing and Healing Complex Trauma approach. You will have the opportunity to discuss and reflect on your work with your colleagues in other regions, helping to maintain the therapeutic ethos between them all.

We need you to have

Minimum two years’ experience of working with children in Residential Care.

Good Leadership and training skills.

Strong understanding of Attachment and Loss.

Evidence of Therapeutic Training/Qualifications

Level 5 in Management or Equivalent is desirable

Psychological/counselling courses attended is desirable.

Active, energetic, creative, outgoing yet empathic character.

Good Communicator and Fluent English speaking

Full driving licence

Experience of group work with young people desirable

Experience of assessment in intervention

Evidence of literary ability to Level 5/A level standard.
