It isn’t just Hollywood that’s been abuzz with awards excitement of late; both Home R and Home F have also held exciting awards events recently.
Home R was happily celebrating their second anniversary of being open with an amazing awards ceremony that involved everyone in the home. With categories including “most creative”, “best beard”, “biggest team player” and “clumsiest”, the entire house family took part in voting and everyone received at least one award. Alongside mini trophies and goody bags, special certificates were handed out for the family to enjoy.
The event was a wonderful way to celebrate the hard work, commitment and team spirit shown over the past two years, and encouraged a greater sense of family and community, as explained by Matt: “It helped everyone in the house feel like they are a team, and all part of something… it helps [boost] morale in the home.”
Meanwhile, Home F decided to host an awards evening not to celebrate a specific milestone but rather to spread positivity and remind everyone how special they are! What staff found particularly lovely was how involved their young people were: they picked and presented unique awards for each adult, and even decorated the room with balloons. Staff were recognised for a number of wonderful attributes and achievements such as “hardest worker”, “having the best dog” and “treating the kids like their own”. Similarly, all young people received awards and recognition for accomplishments like settling into the home so well, being hardworking and aways caring for others. Prizes included a delicious buffet meal for the whole family, as well as trophies, certificates, gift cards and Terry’s Chocolate Oranges (with the latter almost certainly not lasting long!).
These types of events are hugely impactful on everyone living and working in a home; it allows for the celebration of both the big and little wins, and not only strengthens important feelings of home, family, acceptance, respect and love but also reiterates the significance of our REACH therapeutic approach to care.
